One of my favorite souvenirs is scent. Every time I travel I seek out the best place to pick up a unique fragrance that, once home, will remind me of my journey. If you are not sure about committing to a fragrance, look into a scent in the form of a candle, incense or room spray.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Turkey: The Store of MA
I love this subtle fig scented aftershave. It's fresh, light and mildly exotic which instantly brings me back to the warm evenings I spent wandering the streets of Istanbul.

Ireland: Voya Elements Eau Du Toilette
A distinct mix of clove and mandarin this scent is zesty and uplifting. Understandably it has a fresh yet grounding inspiration developed by an Irish spa, who's key ingredient is organic seaweed. This scent transports me back to the wild Atlantic coastline of Ireland.

England: Penhaligons Opus 1870
This fragrance house has been around since the Victorian era and nothing transports me back to London faster than this scent. A complex mixture of coriander and pepper are blended into middle notes of rose and musk, leaving your nose dancing.

France: Histoires de Parfums  1740
This perfume house gains inspiration for each of it's scent from a significant historic date. For example, this particular scent is inspired by a Parisian named Donatien-Alphonse-François, born in 1740, famous as the Marquis de Sade and known for his liberal sexual views. The scent with it's top bergamot notes mix well into patchouli, leather and cedar. To me, this rich blend reminds me of how complex Paris is as a city and makes me feel like a true french gentleman everytime I wear it.

Italy: Acca Kappa Black Pepper and Sandalwood.
This company's roots are in developing the world's best brushes dating back to 1869 in Treviso, Italy. Today, they specialize in producing beautiful bath products including some wonderful scents. This unisex fragrance comes alive with it's top notes of saffron, nutmeg and balsam fir, blended into black pepper and damask rose. Every spritz reminds me of long summer evening-dinners on terraces throughout Italy.

Stay tuned to find out what other scents I add to my collection with some upcoming journeys just around the corner!
